The 2023 Summer Youth Olympics will be the fourth edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, an international sports, education and cultural festival for teenagers, in a city designated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The host city will be selected at the 130th IOC Session in 2017. Originally scheduled to be held in 2022, at the 127th IOC Session it was decided to move the organisation of the YOG to a non-Olympic year, starting with the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games, to be postponed from 2022 to 2023. ==Potential bids== * Monterrey, Mexico: José Antonio Hernández Griego, president of the NGO ''Monterrey Ciudad Olímpica A.C.'', has stated that the capital of Nuevo León State will bid for the 2023 Summer Youth Olympics as part of a long-term plan to host the Summer Olympics in 2028 or 2032. Monterrey tried to bid for the 2014 and 2018, but Guadalajara was chosen by the Mexican Olympic Committee (Comité Olímpico Mexicano) as the national applicant city both times. * Gaborone, Botswana: After hosting the 2014 African Youth Games at the capital and largest city of Botswana, the country's National Olympic Committee has in mind to bid for other competitions such as the African Championships in Athletics, African Swimming Championships and the 2023 Summer Youth Olympics. Lassana Palenfo, president of ANOCA, has suggested a joint-African bid that includes South Africa, Botswana and Angola. * Hobart, Australia: The Hobart Organising Group for Major Events (HOGME) has said they plan to bid for the 2023 Youth Olympic Games after their plans to try to bid for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics received little support from the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) or the Tasmanian Government. * Hong Kong: In 2015 Pang Chung, former secretary general of the Hong Kong Sports Federation & Olympic Committee (SF&OC) who is still an adviser to the body, stated that the 2023 Youth Olympics would be perfect for Hong Kong. He said that the 2009 East Asian Games showed the city can stage successful games and added: ""If China wins the hosting rights for the 2022 Winter Olympics, we can also strengthen the impact of sport in the region by hosting the Youth Olympics the following year".
